    Smallbore Rifle

AAF&G has a 12-position 50 foot and 50 yard small bore rifle range. The range is lighted and covered. Use is limited to .22 caliber rimfire ammunition. The range is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 8 pm, daylight permitting. This range is used by the junior rifle program on Sundays from 9 am until 4 pm.

    High Power Rifle

Thanks to the generosity of the MD Department of Natural Resources, AAF&G has a 100 meter rifle range (Eccles Range) with a covered firing line and 6 shooting benches/lanes. The range is open for use by all members and their guests! In addition to use by the members of AAF&G, the rifle range will be open to non-members MD DNR Shooter Qualification Card qualifiying sessions on scheduled days in the Fall. See the Upcoming Events Page for scheduled Rifle Range matches and the requirements for obtaining a MD DNR Shooter Qualification Card for Shotgun, Muzzleloader, or Bow.

    Archery

From the humble beginnings of a cleared out area with with only a single target, AAF&G's archery facilities have grown to include a full-blown practice range with a 13-foot elevated platform and a small 3-D range. A 3-D Target Archery trail is currently in the design stage. Check here periodically or in the SCORE for more detailed information when the design process is completed.

    The practice range includes:

    • Marked shooting distances out to 60 yards
    • 13-foot high 8 x16 foot elevated platform
    • A large 4 x 8 foot backstop
    • Several 3-D targets
    • 2 3 x 3 foot "monster bag" targets (one portable)
    • 2 Broadhead targets
    • Several "kick" targets
    • Bow racks
    • Work table
    • Picnic Bench
All types of bows, including crossbows are permitted on the range. Range hours are unrestricted and use of the range is free to AAF&G members and their guests. Donations for range maintenance and target replacement are greatly appreciated.

    Cowboy Action Shooting

If you're not sure what cowboy action shooting is all about, contact us or join us at the campfire. We love to talk about it.

Our shoots are held the 3rd Saturday of every month from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. We begin to set up at 8:00 A.M., any assistance is greatly appreciated. See ya there, and may the Good Lord take a likin' to ya.

    Rimfire Action Shoots

The Rimfire Action Shoots are held on the 4th Sunday each month except for January and February, on the Action Pistol Range.  Action Shooting is done in a match-type format where the shooter and/or the targets move, or where multiple targets are fired at from the same firing point.  Both rifles and handguns are used.  If you have ever wanted to try Action Shooting, this is the ideal opportunity to do so.
