Precision Pistol

The AAF&G Precision Pistol (a.k.a. “Bullseye”) program is open to the public and we are accepting new participants. One need not be a member of AAF&G, the National Rifle Association (NRA), or the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) to participate. We accept all levels of interest, from the fiercely committed to those with only a casual interest.

Training

Tuesdays (10am)

The specific program changes but generally consists of a short lecture followed by drills, such as trigger control practice, two-shot and three-shot exercises, timed fire, and sustained fire. At the end we normally shoot a (30-shot) National Match Course. The Tuesday training is informal and popular. It is open to Full and Provisional AAF&G members (and their guests), and provides an excellent opportunity for those who think they need more experience before shooting in the league, or who maybe just want to try bullseye on for size. Training may be shot with either a .22 rimfire or a centerfire pistol.

Leagues

Thursdays (10am)

Normally there are two (90-shot) 900 aggregates. The second match begins when the first concludes. You may shoot in either match or both matches., and matches may be shot with either a .22 rimfire or a centerfire pistol.

Saturdays (9am)

Normally there are two (90-shot) 900 aggregates. The second match begins at 11am even if the first match concludes early. You may shoot in either match or both matches. The 9am match must be shot with a .22 rimfire pistol. The 11am match may be shot with either a .22 rimfire pistol or a centerfire pistol.

Note: The last Saturday of every month is set aside for the Army “L” Matches (see below).

Matches

Army “L” Match

These are run on the last Saturday of every month, starting at 9am.

Two (90-shot) 900 aggregates. The second match begins when the first concludes. The first match must be shot with a .22 rimfire pistol. The second match is normally shot with a centerfire pistol, but allowances are made for those who choose to shoot the second match with a .22 rimfire pistol.

Shooting is done on much larger targets with all firing done at a close distance making the Army L Match a fun, relaxed, confidence-building event. This is a local AAF&G event, and not CMP or NRA sanctioned.

Sanctioned Matches

Each year, AAF&G is host to numerous matches sanctioned by the NRA and CMP. Participants can work towards rankings and earn the recognition of those organizations. Starting in 2018, we host an annual Revolver Championship dedicated in memory of former AAF&G Chairman of the Board and bullseye shooter Jack Walsh.

Information about these events can be found on our Tournaments page.
